Southern California is known for its sunny weather and beautiful Pacific coastline. Residents enjoy a warm climate throughout the year making this destination attractive to tourists from all over the world. In addition to beautiful beaches and the famous Hollywood walk of fame, one can find world class wineries up and down the coast. Although there are a few world renowned wine regions such as Napa and Sonoma county, there is one that stands out above the rest. Welcome to Paso Robles wine country! In this article we will feature one of our favorite luxurious central coast resorts and highlight some of our favorite wineries to visit. So let’s raise a toast to the one we lost most, Paso Robles!
Where To Stay: Cava Robles RV Resort
Finding the right place to stay is one of the key important factors when booking a trip. If you are looking for a family fun atmosphere mixed with onsite luxurious resort-style amenities then escape to the central coast at Cava Robles RV Resort! This stunning resort will satisfy your perfect pairing of natural wonder.
This one of a kind RV resort features hookups, villas, chalets, chateaus, plus pools, a bistro, bike rentals, and a wellness center.
Recently, we had the pleasure of staying in their two bedroom Chateau complete with a kitchen and living room area. One of the best features of our Chateau was the rooftop balcony which allows guests breathtaking sunrise and sunset views during their stay.
This resort is also located within minutes of some of the best wineries in Paso Robles. We were impressed that Cava Robles had all of their safety measures currently in place to comply with the Government and CDC guidelines to ensure health and safety of their guests and employees.
Once your accommodations have been booked, it’s time to plan out which winery visits to make. Although there are plenty of great options to choose from we have narrowed our recommendations down to three must visit vineyards!
Taste Your Way Through the Vineyards!
Hammersky vineyards is at the top of our list of wineries to visit! This charming winery is located in the heart of westside Paso, and has been referred to as the best picnic location in Paso Robles wine country.
At first glance guests will enjoy sweeping 180 degree views of their rolling vineyards that border the lawn while experiencing ultra modern tasting rooms with cafe style seating on their patio.
In addition to wonderful hospitality and comfort, guests can taste their delicious award winning Bordeaux wines. Each bottle is designed with a unique label that will leave your imagination to run wild with meaning. The bold flavors of their wine and enchanting atmosphere are second to none.
A wonderful wine tasting experience awaits you at Hammersky vineyards!
Another top choice of ours is a brand new winery that is quickly getting noticed from visitors up and down the coast. Welcome to SixMileBridge Vineyards! Here you will find fine small batch premium boutique Bordeaux style blends and estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon. The name, Sixmilebridge, derived from a small town located in County Clare, Ireland which was once home to James Moroney, the grandfather of the owner Jim.
During our visit, we had the pleasure of a personal wine tasting experience poured from the vineyard owner himself, James Moroney. Our experience was nothing short of wonderful! It lasted for a couple hours and was filled with delicious Bordeaux style red blends that heightened our sense of taste and smell. Our absolute favorite wine here was the 2016 Bordeaux Style Blend. We were also very impressed in their back story and their winemaking process. They have a devoted team at Sixmilebridge and we could see the passion they put into making their wine. Their winemaker, Anthony, was also the winemaker for the famed Denner vineyards in Paso Robles. Together this team has created great wine, our experience reminded us of our visit to France a couple years ago where the Bordeaux style originated. Cheers to many more years of Sixmilebridge vineyards!
Tooth & Nail Vineyards
Our third and final winery recommendation encompasses a surprise. Welcome to Tooth and Nail vineyards! This stylish vineyard provides live music and a tasting room in a scenic castle. Their partnership with the Rabble wine company offers bold, unconventional and unapologetic wine blends. During our experience, we also tried their delicious appetizers, the beet hummus and the cheese and charcuterie board! The food was incredible!
In addition to their delicious food and wine, guests will discover a unique feature on five particular bottles. Tooth and nail has partnered with Pixar to bring to life Augmented Reality. During our visit we had the pleasure of experiencing AR first hand. We were blown away!! You have to check it out!!
There are five different bottles that offer an augmented reality story that can be brought to life from downloading the Rabble wine company application. Enjoy flavorful wine with a spectacular show at Tooth & Nail vineyards!
World Famous Sensorio Field of Lights!
Welcome to Sensorio!! Currently there is a stunning outdoor art exhibit that graces the hills of Paso Robles. Bruce Munro, internationally- acclaimed artist has premiered his largest artwork to date! Sensorio, also known as “Field of Lights” displays more than 58,000 solar powered lights in a rolling landscape in which flowers bloom as colors morph and glow. This magnificent display is captivating and set to remain open until January 3, 2021. There are a variety of food trucks and bars available to make sure you enjoy a magical night! AdventurPro Tip: we would recommend booking VIP for premier viewing of this incredible exhibit.
In our experience, Paso Robles captured our hearts! This delightful and authentic city is packed with luxurious accommodations, delicious wine, and exciting events. Did we mention it is only about a twenty-five minute drive from the SLO coast as well! We can’t wait to return as there is so much to do in this beautiful destination. Plan ahead for a wonderful weekend getaway or a relaxing vacation. Cheers!
