Heavenly Village Ice Rink

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas … especially in Tahoe! Nestled in the Sierra Nevada mountains, South Lake Tahoe is a California resort city that is known for its nearby ski resorts and beaches. One other trademark of this beautiful city are the grand casino hotels such as Harrah’s, Harvey’s and the Hard Rock adjacent to the state line of Nevada. During the winter season a warmth can be felt within the entire city while gazing at the bright christmas lights and holiday decorations. Enjoy your favorite cocktail at one of the local bars, and then head over to Base Camp Pizza Co. for a delicious meal. Among the exciting activities to do we have chosen one to experience this Holiday season! Let’s review the top reasons why the Heavenly Village Ice Rink should be on your list of things to do this winter!

Location, Location, Location!

This charming outdoor ice rink is located directly in the center of the shops at Heavenly Village, and just a few steps away from all the amenities you need! Local restaurants, a movie theater and Starbucks surrounds the area. Upon arrival we immediately noticed the entire rink was decorated with brilliant lights strung across from side to side accompanied by large luminescent snowflakes which lit up the ice like a winter wonderland! As we listened to the festive music echo through the rink, it was time to experience what everyone had been talking about.

Ice, Ice, Baby:

Whether it’s a family fun holiday, romantic night out, or training for the Olympics, you can do it all at this picturesque skating rink. At check in, you’ll be asked two questions. What size of shoe do you where? Would you like toe pick or hockey ice skates? If you’re unsure, one of the delightful employees are always happy to assist with your selection. After you’ve collected what you need, lace up those skates, and hit the ice in Holiday fashion! Since the park is open from 10 am to 8 pm, it’s completely up to you on how to plan your day. In our experience, we chose to go at 6 pm right after sunset which complimented the decor of dazzling christmas lights.

Things to remember:

South Lake Tahoe can reach freezing temperatures of 20 to 30 degrees during the winter season which is great for fresh snowfall, however, one should be prepared with the correct attire in order to enjoy all this magnificent city has to offer. Here’s a breakdown of attire for our ice skating encounter:

  • Double down North Face jackets, scarves, gloves, beanies, all-weather proof boots, under armor spandex shirt and pants.

Overall our experience was incredible, and we would like to thank the Heavenly Village Ice Rink for their hospitality and an amazing Holiday experience! Happy Holidays!
