Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa
Vail Valley, CO
Fall is the perfect time to experience all that nature has to offer. Autumn marks the transition from summer to winter during the months of September through March when the duration of daylight becomes noticeably shorter and the temperature cools considerably. Tis’ the season to enjoy Pumpkin Spice Lattes and cuddle up by the fire while sipping Hot Cocoa. Dress up in cozy sweatshirts while roasting marshmallows to make delicious S’mores. Although each destination has their own unique features during Autumn, there is one place that truly holds a special place in our hearts. Welcome to the beautiful state of Colorado! In this article we will be showcasing the Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa located in Vail Valley of Avon, CO. We’ll highlight our favorite features of this amazing property and recommend ways to ensure your next stay at the Westin Riverfront is a winter wonderland!
Located in the western side of the United States, Colorado has a diverse landscape of arid desert, river canyons and the famous snow-covered Rocky Mountains. There are plenty of things to do year-round ranging from family attractions, national parks, outdoor adventure and sports. Vail Valley is one of the many ski towns located in Colorado. All are within a reasonable distance of each other, and there are plenty of chances to experience snowfall! The Westin Riverfront is nestled among cascading pine trees and snow capped mountains.
The resort features oversized guest rooms and 1 to 3 bedroom suites. The guest rooms located on the 7th, 8th, and 9th floor also look north to the surrounding mountains. Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff members at Valet, and walked into a grand foyer accompanied by a crackling fireplace. The outside temperature was around 17 degrees Fahrenheit, however, the resort was warm and pleasant. As we walked into our guest room, there were a few things that caught our attention. The vaulted ceiling created a spacious feel, and the oversized balcony allowed full view of the mountain. Did we also mention the cozy fireplace located in the center? Their wonderful team also gave us some pretty awesome welcome gifts, beanies with the Westin Riverfront logo and a Woodford Reserve bottle branded from their onsite restaurant. Check in was quick and efficient to say the least.
The next morning we made our way down to the recreational area which consists of a wellness spa, a fitness center, a 25 yard saltwater outdoor lap pool, and three infinity spas. The Westin had scheduled an aerial yoga class at 8 am which was the first time for both of us. The instructor was from Brazil and had been teaching this art for a total of 5 years. Aerial yoga is a hybrid type of yoga developed in 2014 combining traditional yoga poses, Pilates, and dance with the use of a hammock. The session lasted about an hour, and we felt completely refreshed to start our day.
Pumpkin Spice Lattes awaited us at the onsite Starbucks and breakfast was delivered directly to our guest room. We decided to take full advantage and adventure around the town. Vail Valley consists of trendy shopping, delicious restaurants, and fun filled activities. We opted to try the Vail Valley escape room and had lunch at one of the boutique restaurants.
Once we made our way back to the hotel, we decided to relax in the middle jacuzzi. The water was perfectly heated to counteract the cold weather. This was the perfect transition to their one of a kind Spa Anjali for a couples massage. They offer complimentary steam rooms and saunas for their guests to enjoy before and after their spa treatment.
That evening we were invited to experience dinner at their featured Mexican restaurant, Maya. To start off the night we ordered two refreshing cocktails, and then what followed was a variety of creative dishes. The chef recommended a few plates of interest which we found to be the best of the listed menu items. Queso Fundido for the appetizer, Chipotle Camarones and Carne Asada for our entrees, and fried ice cream to top off our meal.
Upon our last bites we rolled each other back to our rooms to get some sleep for our last activity of the trip. Our last day consisted of an annual celebration with crafted local food stations and outdoor activities. We opted to try axe throwing at targets which was a Colorado favorite.
Overall, our visit was most enjoyable and the perfect amount of time to experience the Westin Riverfront. Although our trip was only a weekend getaway, this resort is designed for any type of occasion. The friendly staff and picturesque location creates the ideal environment to experience all that Colorado has to offer. Thank you to the Westin Riverfront for a hospitable stay, until next time!
